What is a Management Service Organization

A management services organization (MSO) is an organization that contracts with member providers – in TPI’s case therapy practices – and provides specified administrative services to its members.  The main purposes of the MSO are to:

  1. Relieve providers of non-clinical business functions so that they can concentrate on the clinical aspects of their practice.
  2. Provide economies of scale for administrative services and provide them at a lower cost to the members.
  3. Allow highly trained, specialized staff to perform defined billing or other support responsibilities that are often performed by staff that must multi-task within a practice

Contracting with an MSO allows a practice to reduce back office and billing staff positions and expenses associated with those positions.
