Clinical Outcomes
TPI practices utilize Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes – FOTO™ – to measure and analyze outcomes in order to provide the highest quality physical and occupational therapy care in a cost-effective manner. We can provide health plans with functional and utilization data for many conditions, and these outcomes can be compared to a national data base of high quality therapy providers.
Specialized Programs
TPI offers specialized programs to health plans to manage specific musculoskeletal conditions. These programs are focused on reducing the incidence of surgery and reliance on medication. TPI recently implemented a program with a large health plan for physical therapy management of chronic low back pain. We are confident it will be effective in reducing the incidence of lumbar surgery and help people conservatively manage their chronic back pain.
Care Management
As part of our history of consistent and effective care management, we have developed a detailed set of clinical guidelines for 24 non-operative and post-operative conditions covering over 100 diagnoses. Our therapist’s use of outcome-based clinical guidelines has resulted in consistent care management across our network. We have maintained high patient satisfaction and excellent functional outcomes within a utilization rate that is about half the national average.
Innovative Contracting – Pay for Performance
TPI is well-positioned and willing to share risk in contracting with health plans for the provision of physical and occupational therapy services. Our practices use FOTO™ outcomes to measure the effectiveness of our care. FOTO™ data provides a research based measure of our clinical value and comparison of our effectiveness to other practices across the country. We can use this data for value based contracting (pay for performance).
